– It was amazing to be at the Scandinavium and play in front of such a big crowd. I have so many fond memories of the Gothia Floorball Cup, and it’s great to see so many participants in the audience, said William Lindh, a player for Pixbo IBK.
The match was thrilling from the outset. FBC Kalmarsund started strongly, taking a two-goal lead in the first period. However, Pixbo IBK fought back, scoring a goal on either side of the first break to level the game. The score remained 2–2 heading into the third and final period.
The last period was a back-and-forth battle. Pixbo IBK initially completed their comeback, taking a 3–2 lead, but Kalmarsund responded quickly, scoring twice to make it 3–3 and then 4–3, reclaiming their earlier advantage. Pixbo IBK made a determined effort to equalise in the final moments, but Kalmarsund capitalised on an empty net to score the decisive 5–3 goal. Pixbo IBK managed a late goal in the dying seconds, but it wasn’t enough. FBC Kalmarsund secured a 5–4 victory.
– It was a great win. I think it showed real strength for us to come back after Pixbo took the lead at 3–2 early in the third period, said Johan Palmqvist, a player for FBC Kalmarsund.
For the players, it was a unique experience to play in front of such a large crowd.
– This is by far the largest audience I’ve ever played in front of, said Johan Palmqvist.
William Lindh agreed:
– I know there are players on our team who have played in front of bigger crowds, but I’ve never experienced anything like this myself, he said.
