The goalkeeping school is back with young duo as instructors
Gothia Cup Innebandy's popular goalkeeping school is coming back in January – now with two young Pixbo players as instructors.
18-year-old Oscar Fränberg will arrange the goalkeeping school this time. To help him, he will have the one year younger Elmer Arne, who also belongs to Pixbo's academy.
Oscar Fränberg is in his second season at Pixbo. Previously he played for FBC Partille. The talent tells how he came to be a goalkeeper in the first place:
– I would say that I became a goalkeeper quite early in my career. It was quite early on that I decided as I thought it was much more fun to make saves than to score goals. The best thing about being a goalkeeper, I would say, is when you make a really good match or a decisive save and the feeling when you win a tough match, says Oscar Fränberg.
A goal in the long term is to become the first choice goalkeeper in a SSL team, preferably in Pixbo IBK.
– The goal of floorball is to play as high as possible in a team with good guys and compete for the titles. Then it's also fun to teach and to keep up with everything around floorball too.
Last season he was part of Pixbo IBK's squad in a SSL match against Team Thorengruppen.
– It was just before the playoffs started. The plan was that I would play half the match but after a tough start and a disadvantage before the last period, I got no playing time, unfortunately. But the experience itself and the atmosphere was very fun and educational to experience. Everything from the journey there to everything before and after the match was fun to experience, says the 18-year-old.
Last year he was an instructor for Gothia Cup Innebandy's goalkeeping school together with the former SSL goalkeeper Kalle Lundgren.
– When Kalle was unfortunately prevented, it was clear that I wanted to participate this year as well when I was asked. I myself have played Gothia Cup Innebandy when I was younger and it was always a fun experience, says Oscar Fränberg.
The goalkeeper school will consist of four different sessions – divided into different ages – on Saturday, January 4th.
– The goalkeeping school will contain a lot of basics but also many new things and ways to see and think about certain situations during a match.
His clubmate Elmer Arne will help him with the goalkeeping school.
– It feels very good to have Elmer with me. We've been playing with each other for quite some time now, both in Pixbo and at the gymnasium that we both attend, and we complement each other very well. We will probably focus on the same things for the most part, but we have slightly different specialties where we can focus on certain exercises or techniques with smaller groups, he says.
Why do you think young goalkeepers should participate in the goalkeeper school?
– I think it is very instructive and useful to take part in as many different camps and training sessions as possible, especially when the focus is on just the goalkeepers. You learn a lot when you focus on certain points and can also ask questions to others to arrive at a good solution. This applies to all ages, but it is especially very useful if you are young and want to become a better goalkeeper, says Oscar Fränberg.
The goalkeeping school is open for goalkeepers in accommodated teams (category A, B and C) and will be held in four sessions at Valhalla Sporthall:
09.30-10.30 (11-14 years)
11.00-12.00 (15-18 years)
15.00-16.00 (15-18 years)
16.30-17.30 (11-14 years)
