Snipers Bratislava from Slovakia will participate with five teams
One of Slovakia's biggest clubs will come back for Gothia Innebandy Cup 2024.
Snipers Bratislava will compete with five boys' teams in Gothia Innebandy Cup in January. It's a highlight of the year for the club.
– The interest in the club is huge, says the youth coach Maros Takac.
Snipers Bratislava is one of the biggest floorball clubs in Slovakia and also one of the most successful.
– Today we have 18 teams, from seven years old to seniors. We have about 330-350 active players, says Maros Takac.
What kind of experiences do you have from Gothia Innebandy Cup from before?
– I really forgot to count how many times we have been to Gothia Innebandy Cup. I think this time should be the sixth or seventh time. Our first participation was around year 2012. The whole tournament is a great motivation for young players and they enjoy matches against Swedish clubs. Our best experience was last year when our team got a bronze medal in the B12 category. The atmosphere at the last match was amazing with all of our players as fans.
How is the interest for the tournament in your club?
– The interest in the club is huge. The price for the tournament and the entire trip is higher than, for example, for a tournament in the Czech Republic. But we will give players and coaches the opportunity to play against traditional Swedish clubs and experience a week full of floorball and an interesting trip.
Floorball has been a very popular sport in Slovakia during the last decade.
– Almost every club is trying to partner with some elementary school to have enough players coming to club. Floorball has also been showed on TV in recent years but not as often as we wish. We're working hard to put floorball in Slovakia on a higher level and promote it better, says Maros Takac.
What are your goals with your participation in Gothia Innebandy Cup 2024?
– Our goals are to have fun, get memories from the tournament, enjoy quality games and referees and motivate young players to work on themself and inspire them, says the youth coach.
