The physiotherapists help the injured players
The physiotherapists at the cup are always ready to treat injuries
The high tempo of Gothia Innebandy Cup often results in a higher risk of injuries. That’s why there are physiotherapists at the arenas, ready to intervene in case of injuries.
In a big event such as Gothia Innebandy Cup, where there are more than 400 participating teams, it is not unusual for injuries to appear. In Kviberg, the physiotherapist Viktor is ready to treat the injured players. You can find the physiotherapists at Kviberg arena, Lundbystrand and Partille arena.
- I especially work to treat the serious injuries. It could be all from twisted ankles to the more serious knee injuries. Then my task is to make a judgment as to what is necessary to do, Viktor says.
The physiotherapists must always be ready to make quick decisions, and that is why they need to know what they are doing.
- I would say that we are quite well prepared. As an educated physiotherapist I have a good idea of what there are for different sports injuries, and what treatment is necessary for them.
When there is a decision to be made, the physiotherapist and the player need to do an assessment together.
- We make a decision together with the player. The crucial thing is what symptoms the player is feeling, and that puts the foundation for my decision if the player should be sent to the hospital or sent to a physiotherapist, or if the player could play on, he says.
Viktor has worked at sports tournaments earlier and always looks forward to returning.
- I worked at Gothia Innebandy Cup last year and have worked at similar tournaments as well.
- The feeling you get from these events is very good. It is a great atmosphere, with loads of spectators. Then I like the emotions the players show because that is what makes these cups so fun, Viktor says.
