Gothia Cup Innebandy 2025 is officially opened

The tournament was opened in front of a large crowd at Scandinavium.

For the first time in eleven years, Gothia Cup Innebandy kicked off with an opening ceremony. The event drew a big crowd of excited players and coaches to Scandinavium.

The opening ceremony was highly anticipated, to say the least. The last time such an event was held during the tournament was in 2014, but with Gothia Cup Innebandy celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the opening ceremony made its grand return. After playing their first matches earlier on Friday, participating players and coaches went to Scandinavium in the evening to experience the ceremony. The stands were filled with enthusiastic attendees making this year’s opening ceremony a spectacular one.

Inside the arena, the atmosphere was electric, with a vibrant sense of unity. Through dance and song performed on stage, the participating nations were introduced one by one to the delight of the audience. Each country was also represented by a player who spoke on behalf of their nation to the large – and cheering – crowd. The ceremony concluded with a singalong to “Forever Young,” as spectators waved their mobile phone flashlights, creating a warm and memorable atmosphere within the packed arena.
– The ceremony was a fast-paced show with lots of energy, showcasing how internationally diverse we are. At the same time, I think the message was very meaningful, said Julia Koponen.

Gothia Cup Innebandy 2025 is now officially opened. Julia Koponen, event producer for Gothia Cup Innebandy, is pleased with the opening ceremony.
– I think it felt fantastic. It’s been an intense process with a lot of planning, so it’s great that it turned out so well, she said.
