Goalkeeping classes are back at Gothia Innebandy Cup
Having been cancelled for two years, the popular goalkeeping classes are yet again held at Valhalla during Gothia Innebandy Cup.
The goalkeeping class was quite the popular part of the last Gothia Innebandy Cup, in 2020. But as the tournament itself it hasn’t been done since. But now it’s finally back again.
– I think the goalkeeping classes will help me become a better goalkeeper, says Anton Cansund, participating in the classes this year-
As Gothia Innebandy Cup is yet again an event occurring in January after having been cancelled for two years straight, so are the goalkeeping classes. The experienced goalkeeper Kalle Lundgren will, for the second time, hold the goalkeeping classes to the youths. The first time he did it was three years ago, right before the pandemic. Kalle Lundgren and the players that’re taking part of the goalkeeping class are all excited to take part in the tournament again.
– It’s fantastic. I love to be here and meet all the youths. I’m hoping that I might teach them something – I enjoy watching young goalkeepers develop, he says.
Anton Cansund, 12, has played floorball in CL98 for four years. But he didn’t become a goalkeeper until last year.
– I did a lot of goalkeeping and I liked it. Det best part of being a goalkeeper is to be a part of the team and to cover all the shots, he says.
Cansund's looking forward to the goalkeeping classes and the games, a bit more than normal due to it having been cancelled in 2021 and 2022.
Kalle Lundgren’s playing regularly for FBC Lerum, a team in the second tier of Swedish floorball, and he’s also glad to be back and to pass his knowledge on to the new generations.
– I’m not here to change them, but to give advice they can carry with them in the future. I’m opening a new world for them, many have been told on how to goalkeep, but there is no right nor wrong. In the end it’s all about who does the most saves, says Kalle Lundgren.
