Opening ceremony in Scandinavium: "Will be an evening to remember"
For the first time in eleven years, Gothia Cup Innebandy organizes an opening ceremony in Scandinavium.
This year, Gothia Cup Innebandy celebrates 30 years. The tournament will organize an opening ceremony in January, in Gothenburg's largest indoor arena – Scandinavium.
– It will be an evening that the participants will remember for a very long time, says the tournament director Lena Rönnefors.
30 years ago, in 1994, the tournament opened its doors for the first time. Back then, 135 teams from five nations participated. At the last edition in January 2024, 421 teams from seven countries participated. This time we're going against having over 500 teams.
– There are many clubs that over the years have made Gothia Cup Innebandy what it is today and we want to show our appreciation for that, says Lena Rönnefors, tournament director for Gothia Cup Innebandy.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary, Gothia Cup Innebandy organizes an opening ceremony, where all players and leaders are welcome, where dancers and artists pay tribute to the participating teams and nations and 30 years of history. The opening ceremony begins at 19.30 on Friday, January 3rd, and will end the first day of the tournament in the best way possible. No later than November 10, you need to register your team for the anniversary edition of Gothia Cup Innebandy.
– We're aiming to break a record in January and we're well on our way to succeeding in that. We're doing everything we can to make this a tournament to remember. Our goal is to make the best tournament in 30 years, says Lena Rönnefors.
A ticket to the opening ceremony is included with Gothia Card, which is included for everyone who book their accommodation through us or pays the participation fee. Gothia Card can also be ordered for friends and family via the team.
