Filippa Olander led the new club Lindås IBK to glory
Lindås IBK was the strongest team in the G18 final against FBC Engelholm. The match's MVP Filippa Olander had the best possible start in her new club.
Filippa Olander is completely new to Lindås IBK. That didn't stop her from leading the team to victory in Gothia Innebandy Cup. Talk about a dream start.
– It feels absolutely insane to have won Gothia Innebandy Cup, says the forward.
FBC Engelholm and Lindås IBK had both played several even matches and fought their way to the final. Once there, it was Lindås IBK who started the match best. Ella Essman gave Lindås IBK the lead after five minutes and three minutes later Filippa Olander extended the lead to 2-0, which was the score in halftime. Lindås IBK has had a strength in having many different goal scorers during the tournament. There have been many players who have been able to step forward and score goals. That strength also proved important in the final.
At the beginning of the second period, Filippa Olander scored her second goal of the match. They never let go of the lead and were able to take home the oldest category in Gothia Innebandy Cup. FBC Engelholm scored a goal by Elina Derwik, but when Ella Essman scored 4-1, the match was over. Lindås IBK is champions in the G18 category in Gothia Innebandy Cup 2024.
– I'm new to Lindås IBK so this was almost my debut. It feels very good and absolutely crazy to have won Gothia Innebandy Cup, says the match's MVP and double goal scorer Filippa Olander.
They got off to a bit of a rough start but now they stand here as tournament winners.
– We had a hard time and lost two matches in the beginning, but then we caught up and now we have won the Gothia Innebandy Cup.
She is pleased with her two goals in the final.
– It was a magical feeling to score a goal. It was extremely nice and felt very good.
How will you celebrate the triumph?
– We will eat something good and have fun with the team.
What kind of dreams do you have with your floorball?
– It has to be to represent Sweden. I hope it will happen, says Filippa Olander with a wide smile.
