The crowd-drawing teams Gantofta IBK and Nittedal Wolves face off
Loud support for both teams elevates the intense clash.

When Gantofta IBK and Nittedal Wolves face off, it proves to be as much a battle on the court as a display of camaraderie on the sidelines, with loyal support backing both teams.
The Skåne-based Gantofta IBK took on Norway's Nittedal Wolves at Lundbyhallen. Both teams enjoyed loud support from the sidelines, backed all the way in what turned out to be a thrilling encounter.
It was Nittedal Wolves who broke the deadlock first, amid the sound of cowbells and enthusiastic cheers from the sidelines. Gantofta equalized just seconds into the second period, giving the other side of the stands a chance to celebrate. The comeback was complete when Gantofta followed up with another goal, extending their lead to 3-1. Nittedal managed to narrow the gap to 3-2 before the final whistle blew.
The scoreline, however, had no effect on the unwavering support on the sidelines. Both teams have a devoted following.
- It's mostly the players’ parents and some who have older kids playing here too, said Monika Dyrmo, one of the parents supporting Nittedal Wolves.
Her backpack is full of cowbells, with two flags sticking out from the sides.
- We’ve been good at traveling to cheer for other teams in the past, but this year we can’t because the schedules overlap. A lot of the siblings are playing too, so there are lots of matches!
What’s the most enjoyable part of traveling to cheer for the teams like this?
- It’s the atmosphere, but also having a good time with the other parents, Dyrmo said.
Gantofta’s Martin Hallberg agrees that the uplifting atmosphere can be decisive in these matches.
- I think it warms the players’ hearts and makes it fun. Of course, it might be a bit embarrassing! But if all the parents behave the same way, I believe it lifts the team. It creates a better atmosphere and enhances the experience. You know yourself as a coach or trainer that when the stands come alive, it boosts the tempo and energy of the match, Hallberg said.
He also noted that it benefits the spectators.
- It’s important. Plus, it makes for a more enjoyable experience for the audience. A win-win!
Gantofta IBK has several teams in the tournament, each with its own flag in the stands. Additionally, they bring multiple megaphones, horns, and homemade flags, adding to the lively atmosphere.
