Referee registration is now open
This year’s Gothia Innebandy Cup was a big success, with a record number of teams, full stands – and more referee applications than ever before. – We are heading towards another record in referee registrations, says Martin Laanemets.

The interest for the coming winter is already high – not only from teams, but also from referees. Even though registration has only just opened, the applications are already coming in.
– It feels like the strong interest from last year’s tournament has continued. As soon as we open the referee registration, we see a flow of people wanting to officiate at Gothia Innebandy Cup. It’s a great sign and shows that we are attractive not only for teams, but for the whole floorball community, says Martin Laanemets, Competition Manager.
Around 180 referees travel across Gothenburg to officiate at Gothia Innebandy Cup, on 35 courts around the city. The group includes local referees, referees from other parts of Sweden – and from abroad.
– We have seen a big increase in referees coming from outside the region, which is great. We had a record number of international referees at the 2025 tournament, and it looks like that international interest will stay strong, says Laanemets.
One reason for this success, according to him, is that referees at Gothia Innebandy Cup are more than just referees.
– Of course, they are here to officiate matches. But we also make sure they are part of the whole experience. Referees take part in the opening ceremony, get free entry to the SSL match, and receive coaching and feedback from our experienced referee observers. We do everything we can for our referees – and in return, we get so much back, says Laanemets.
