First goal of Gothia Cup Floorball 2025

Vilgot Joelsson opened the scoring in this year's edition of the tournament.

It was Vilgot Joelsson who scored one of the first goals in the Gothia Innebandy Cup 2025 as CL98IC Kalmar defeated IBK Göteborg.

There was cause for celebration at Kviberg Arena when CL98IC Kalmar faced IBK Göteborg in the Boys 18 category. The match was very even in the opening minutes, with the Kalmar team showing energy in their attack, seeking an early lead.

Vilgot Joelsson eventually broke the deadlock for CL98IC Kalmar after a well-executed offensive play.

- It feels really good to open the scoring for the year, Joelsson said.

According to the scorer himself, it wasn’t his best goal, but it was certainly an important one.

- A goal is a goal, Joelsson concluded.

The goal seemed to unlock the game. IBK Göteborg had been solid in their defensive play and found solutions to CL98IC’s high press, but after the first goal, there was no stopping the Kalmar team, who went on to win 4-0.

- It feels amazing to start (the tournament) with a win. We just have to keep building on this, Joelsson added.

It’s the first time the goalscorer himself is participating with the Kalmar team in the tournament, but CL98IC is no stranger to the Gothia Innebandy Cup. They won the entire Boys 18 category last year after several silver medal finishes in previous years.
