FBC Lerum dreams of winning the Gothia Innebandy Cup: "One of the biggest things you can win in youth floorball"

The local team FBC Lerum's G16 team has big goals in the Gothia Innebandy Cup 2023.

FBC Lerum's 16-year-old girls long for the Gothia Indoor Bandy Cup and dream of lifting the glorious trophy.

The coach Daniel Engström describes the team.
– We have ten girls who have played together for almost eleven years and who over the years have been a pretty good team. In the last year, they have developed a lot together with our one year old younger girls who we teamed up with this year. The strengths of this team are a good passing game, many players who want to win and two great goalkeepers, he says.
They are very positive about the Gothia Innebandy Cup.
– Given that we live next to Gothenburg and have many registered teams in the cup, this cup is close to our hearts. It's wonderful to feel the floorball pulse in Gothenburg and mainly around Valhalla. We have been registered every year we have reached the right age, as this is one of the few cups where you can get matches against teams from other countries and cities more than 300 kilometers away, says Daniel Engström.

The G16 team has been in the tournament twice before. Both times they have qualified for the A-playoffs.
– The first year, 2019, we went out on penalties in the quarter-finals and the second year, 2020, we went out in the round of 16 with 0-1. So both times we were small margins from advancing.
They can't wait to play the Gothia Innebandy Cup again.
– The girls are really looking forward to this very much as it has been canceled two years in a row. The goal is to first go to the A-playoffs and then fight us through to the final and hopefully be the winners in the end. We have won several smaller cups, but winning the Gothia Innebandy Cup is one of the biggest things you can win in youth floorball.
FBC Lerum is primarily looking forward to meet international and national teams.
– We've played many cups over the years and it's always fun to compete against teams from other countries and districts in Sweden. The girls are looking forward to showing how they have developed during the two years that the pandemic took away the big cups from them, says Daniel Engström.
