Czech team advances after dramatic playoff win

After a difficult start to the tournament, things finally turned around. – It’s a great experience for us, says Simon Pribojsky after securing a place in the quarterfinals.

FBC Dobruška are through to the quarterfinals of the B playoff after a dramatic 3–2 victory against Linköping IBK. The round of 16 match was decided in the final minutes, with the Swedish side pushing hard for an equaliser.

Dobruška come from a small town in the Czech Republic and compete in the Boys 17 category. According to Simon Pribojsky, the tournament in Sweden has been both challenging and rewarding, especially after a group stage that did not go as planned.
– We are from a small town and the group stage didn’t go very well for us. But it has been getting better and better, and now we got our first win when it really mattered, he says.

The match against Linköping was even throughout, with Dobruška taking the lead and managing to hold on despite heavy pressure late in the game. After Linköping reduced the deficit, the intensity increased, but the Czech team remained defensively strong until the final whistle.
– We’ve seen a lot of great players here and there have been many goals. It’s a really valuable experience for us, says Pribojsky.

For FBC Dobruška, the win means more than just progressing in the tournament. It also reflects the team’s development during the competition, as they now move on to the quarterfinals where they will face FBC EAGB Štíři České Budějovice at Frölunda Kulturhus at 8:00 PM.
