CL98 decided the G13 final late
It was a tight and intense final played at a high tempo throughout. – It feels really, really good, so much fun, we fought and played at 110 per cent, says MVP Melodie Svanholm after the final whistle.
CL98 won the Girls 13 Playoff A final against IBK Lund after a match marked by constant shifts in momentum. The final ended 4–2 after CL98 managed to hold on during a pressured closing phase.
The match was even from the start, with both teams creating chances in quick succession. With five minutes left of the first half, CL98 took the lead at 2–1 through Elli Engdahl, who finished with a well-placed long-range shot. The goal gave CL98 a narrow advantage going into the break.
Early in the second half, CL98 extended their lead to 3–1 just two minutes after play resumed. IBK Lund received strong support from their fans in the stands, who pushed the team forward with chants and applause.
Five minutes into the second half, CL98 made it 4–1 and strengthened their grip on the match. Towards the end, CL98 controlled possession in the attacking half and continued to apply pressure.
With one and a half minutes remaining, IBK Lund reduced the deficit to 4–2. Lund’s coach called a timeout and substituted the goalkeeper for an extra outfield player in a final attempt to equalise.
CL98 defended the final minutes and secured the title.
