Gothia Cup Innebandy

A summer announcement that will make you look forward to winter – Pixbo to face Linköping in Scandinavium

When Gothia Cup Innebandy opens in Scandinavium on 3 January 2027, another evening full of friendship, entertainment and world-class floorball awaits. It has now been confirmed that two of Sweden’s top teams, Pixbo IBK and Linköping IBK, will face off in the big SSL match that brings the opening night to a close.

Over the past few years, the Opening Ceremony in Scandinavium has become one of the tournament’s biggest highlights. Thousands of players, leaders and supporters gather to enjoy a show featuring music, dance and the presentation of all participating nations before some of Sweden’s best floorball players take to the court. For the participants, it is an experience that sets the tone for the entire tournament.
– We want to create memories that last long after the final match has been played. The opening ceremony in Scandinavium is one of those moments. Bringing the whole floorball community together under one roof and then ending the evening with a top-class SSL match is something very special, says Lena Rönnefors, Tournament Director of Gothia Cup Innebandy.
Pixbo IBK’s opponents will be Linköping IBK, who finished third in the SSL table last season.
– It will be an evening where our participants can experience the full power of Gothia Cup Innebandy – from the atmosphere in the stands to floorball of the highest quality on the court, says Lena Rönnefors.

In 2025, a new attendance record for an SSL match in Scandinavium was set during the Gothia Cup Innebandy opening ceremony, and this year more than 9,000 people were in attendance. The opening ceremony and SSL match have quickly become a natural part of the experience for teams travelling to Gothenburg for the world’s largest youth floorball tournament.
– Gothia Cup Innebandy is about much more than results on the court. It is about bringing people together, creating new friendships and sharing unforgettable experiences. That is why it feels fantastic to offer our participants both an opening ceremony and an SSL match in Scandinavium as part of Gothia Cup Innebandy, says Lena Rönnefors.

Gothia Cup Innebandy will be played from 3–6 January 2027 and brings together nearly 500 teams from several nations every year. The opening ceremony takes place on the first day of the tournament and is followed directly by the SSL match between Pixbo IBK and Linköping IBK.
